If you have deployed ABBYY FineReader on a local network and then changed the name of the computer acting as the host for the License Server, or if an unexpected error occurs on the License Server computer, follow these steps:
- Remove the License Server from the respective computer.
Note: If you cannot access this computer, proceed to step 2.- Go to Start > Control Panel and select Programs and Features.
- From the list of installed programs, select ABBYY FineReader 14 License Server and then click Remove.
- Install the License Server on another computer, for example \\NewServer.
- On all computers where License Manager is installed, edit the parameter
[Licensing]
NetworkServerName=<COMPUTER NAME> in the file
%Program Files%\ABBYY FineReader 14 License Server\LicenseManager.ini or add it to the file.
This parameter allows you to set the name of the server that License Manager should access. For example:
[Licensing]
NetworkServerName=MyComputerName
Important! The changes will take effect only after restarting ABBYY FineReader 14 Licensing Service. - Add your licenses in ABBYY FineReader 14 License Manager and activate them. More information is available in the ABBYY FineReader License Manager help file.
- Open the administrative installation folder, navigate to ABBYY FineReader 14, and create the file Licensing.ini there.
The path to the administrative installation folder was set when creating the administrative installation directory. - Add in your Licensing.ini file under the [Licensing] section the parameter NetworkServerName. This parameter specifies the server name, for example:
[Licensing]
NetworkServerName=MyComputerName - Reinstall ABBYY FineReader on a workstation.
- A file named <COMPUTER NAME>.ABBYY.LicServer will now be created. <COMPUTER NAME> is the value of the parameter NetworkServerName. Example: MyComputerName.ABBYY.LicServer.
Copy the file <COMPUTER NAME>.ABBYY.LicServer to the other workstations. The file can be found in:
%programdata%\ABBYY\FineReader\14.00\Licenses on Windows 7 or later.
