Use the "About this Mac" option to check the version of the Mac operating system installed on your Mac and find out if it is the latest (most recent) version.

Select "About this Mac" from the Apple menu () in the corner of the screen. The name of the macOS version, e.g. macOS Monterey or macOS Big Sur, followed by the version number, should then be displayed. If you also need to know the build number, click on the version number to display it.
